2 Nannys...

I was downstairs while Gracie was upstairs talking to my mom. My mom filled me in on the conversation they had. I'm pretty sure it went something like this.

*Note*
For those of you who don't know, I call my grandmother "Nanny", so...my girls have 2 Nannys. (My mom, and my Nanny).

Gracie: "Where you doin'?"

My mom: "To Nanny's house"

Gracie: "Oh, the right Nanny's house?"

*Awkward pause*

My mom: "Um..." *confused look*

Gracie: "Are you the left Nanny?"

My mom: *giggle*  "What?"

Gracie: "Yeah, we turn right to go to Nanny's house, and we turn left to go to you's house."

I guess it's kind of confusing having 2 Nannys. :)

my little singer

Hanna loves to sing. The other day she walked up to me and just started singing her little heart out. It would haven been so much better if I had my video camera handy, but all I had was my camera.

That's okay. The pictures give you an idea of how hard she was trying to sing me a beautiful tune!

one hand in my pocket

Hanna has a new walk lately...
I call it the "hand in her pocket" walk.
Apparently a lot of visually impaired or blind children walk with their hands out in front of them. (Seems normal to me...so they don't walk into anything, right?) Some of them actually get physical therapists to work with them so they don't do it.
I, personally, don't see a problem with it.
Hanna walks like that usually. I think it's also to keep her balance. But lately she's got this new walk. Haha! Maybe she knows that she looks silly with her hands out in front of her. :)

She's also starting the bad habit of biting her lip. (as you can see in the picture)
...and grinding her teeth. Ugh...
Can you guess how Gracie was able to make these cute, little, cookies, all by herself today?

.....

With her Easy Bake Oven!
Gramma and Grandad got her one for her birthday, and we finally took it out.
She made 6 cookies. Ate 3, and saved 3 especially for when she visits "Be-anna" and Austin.
She even iced them by herself. :)

news news news

Oh my Gosh. Lots going on around here!

A couple huge things happened today!
The HUGEST...

I weighed Hanna today, and she finally reached 16 pounds!!!!!!
She was kind of lingering in the 15 pound range for a while, so this is awesome news! We`ve been trying to fatten her up. :)

Next on the list in news...
We bought a house!!!

Well...not yet. We had one chance to bid on it against another couple, and we got it! Yay!

We don`t get possession until the end of June, but that`s really okay with me. I have to get used to the fact that we`re moving out.

We made a home downstairs for the last four years, and it`s gonna be hard to leave.

I`m glad I have some time to get totally pumped about it!

It`s a cute little house, anyhow. I think we`ll be happy there. :)

So that`s that!

On a side note...does anybody have any idea why my apostrophe would be backwardsÉ, and apparently my question mark turned into a French thing...É
My keyboard had been doing this sometimes...randomly, and I can`t figure out how to make it stop! Any advice would be great!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Gracie's 3 year photos!

I took the girls to the beach so I could take Gracie's 3 year pictures!
Gracie loves the beach, and comes back with "treasures" every time we go.
Hanna kept running to the water. She actually tried to sit right into it when I let her get close enough.
Too bad the water is probably still around 40 degrees! I'm sure she would have had a fit if she actually got wet.
I thought it was pretty brave of her to actually check it out though!

So, enough "talk"...let's get to the pictures!
She's so photogenic!

Laugh

Hanna's so funny when she's tired because she gets goofy.
She tries to fight falling asleep any way she can. Sometimes she'll lay on your lap and clap her hands. Sometimes she kicks her feet.
My favourite is when she stares at you until you look at her...then she laughs...hysterically.
I'm not kidding when I say that this kid has the best laugh, ever.
But, since I don't have a video available right now to prove it, here's a baby with the next best laugh. :)
This is one of favourite Youtube videos.
Cracks me up every time.
Enjoy!

just a little one

I haven't had too much to write about lately, so I figured it'd be a good time for a teensy little update of Hanna's continued progress!
Lately, it seems like every single day she's doing something new.
She knows where many body parts are, although wont point to them if asked. She'd rather follow through with a command. Like..."put your leg into your pants." or "put that hat on your head." or "give me your foot so I can put your sock on", etc. etc.
She also attempts to do the "itsy bitsy spider" with her fingers. It's actually pretty cute. She'll come over to you and start doing a weird thing with her fingers together until you start singing the song. :)
She's a wild dancer.. Believe it or not, if a really catchy song like an "Alvin and the Chipmunks" hip hop song for example comes on, this kid will wake up out of a heavy sleep just so she can shake her groove thang.
It's actually happened.

She walks more than she crawls now! Even outside in the lumpy, uneven grass!
Yay!

birthday girls!

I spent the last couple days working on Gracie's birthday cake. I only go all out two times a year ( girls' birthdays), so I always try to make them spectacular!

Anyhow, this one was pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself. :)
I got the idea just off the internet.
Here's Gracie's tea party cake!
The cups are cupcakes, and all the handles and the teapot spout are cardboard.
It turned out quite cute.

Everyone came to celebrate. We actually did mine tonight, too since my birthday is tomorrow.
Here's some more pictures!
Uncle Mike made her a "cushion" for under the elastic band on her hat...
Earlier today Matt and I gave her the gift from us.
Hanna was just as excited as Gracie was, and helped with the unwrapping.
It's a big sandbox with a picnic table attached.
I think it will be a hit.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

today

Gracie Lynn turns 3!

She's been waiting for this one for a while.
She's been telling everyone she knows, and everyone she meets that her birthday is "april temf" and she's "gonna be tree" for months now.

She's hilarious.
Although we're pretending her birthday isn't until tomorrow (because that's when her party is), I'm celebrating today.

I hate the fact that time is going by so fast, but I'm looking forward to the days ahead. She's such a joy, and the most amazing big sister. It makes me so proud to say she's mine.  She'll always be my baby.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!

Mmmm

Hanna has been starting to make animal noises lately...she kind of does a "eeeew" for cat and "ra ra" for dogs. Pretty impressive...

But what's even more impressive is that when she turns to the page in her book that has a cow on it, she goes "mmmm"!
Do you know what that means?
That means that she can see the cow! She also turns to the apple page and pretends to take a bite and chew every time. She's seeing these things, and it's amazing!

This is a little girl who we thought may not even have light perception!
Now she's looking at pictures and "showing" us that she can see them.

So exciting

So encouraging

She's proving "them" wrong every day!

my new favourite thing Hanna does

I love how easily she does that now. I love watching it just the same each and every time!

My experiment

It was another beautiful day today! The girls and I spent some time outside before going to Gramma and Grandad's house for Easter Dinner.

Experiment:
How will Hanna react to outdoor textures she walks on?

Hypothesis:
If Hanna walks on the grass, she will lift her feet and scream bloody murder.

We tried out the brick first to prep her...
and she did great!

Then we tried out the grass...
ready for it......
And she did great! She thought it was pretty funny, actually. She wanted to run in it.
She's not a big fan of touching the grass with her hands, which is why I thought she'd do so poorly! Shows what I know.
This will definitely get her walking outside, though. Every time she went to sit down from standing, to crawl, she stood back up just as fast, as soon as her hands hit the grass.

Conclusion:
Hanna doesn't mind outside textures to walk on! Yay!
And here's another picture just for fun!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a happy Easter!
Believe it or not, I didn't get any pictures. I get pictures of the most random things, and then when I actually, really should have pictures, I don't. So, sorry. :)

We had a nice weekend, though. The girls got more candy and chocolate than they needed, and we had an amazing Easter Sunday brunch at my mom and dad's. (Upstairs.)
The weather was perfect, too. We were in the 60's all weekend.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

a good life

I just want to take a second and put a link right hereThis is a really amazing post by Becky. I met Becky online, and she's is a great example of someone living with blindness, and still really enjoying, and loving their life.
Check out this post, and you'll see why I love visiting her blog. She's a great inspiration.

Just some pictures

It was so beautiful outside today. Apparently we got temps higher than Miami! Our high for the day was 84 degrees....
Ahhhh
I like this one of Bryanna and Austin...
Bryanna grabbed her big brother to pose for the camera.
