I don't have any words to describe how upset I am about the lack of attention Hanna is getting at dance.
The biggest problem is that the owner is never there when we are, so I can't even tell her what's on my mind.
There were three different teachers in there tonight. Three. And not one of them took it upon themselves to help Hanna one on one, and instead, let her stand there in the middle of the room by herself.
Half way through the class she came out completely upset, asking to go home.
Eventually I talked her into going back in, but honestly, I don't blame her if she wants to quit altogether.
I feel so bad for her, and it's just not fair. She was really enjoying it at the beginning of the year, and it seems they've gotten more and more lax, and eventually completely forgot about her.
I already told her that she can choose if she wants to just watch the recital at the end of the year, or dance, because frankly, I think she'd enjoy it more if she could just watch it.
She told me tonight that she doesn't like dance anymore. I'm not going to force her to go if she doesn't want to, I just think it's a shame that we didn't get what we were promised at the beginning of the year. There was a girl who was introduced as "Hanna's helper", and I didn't see that girl take her eyes off of herself the entire class, every single week. Instead, there were a couple younger helpers that would take it upon themselves to help Hanna when they could. But that's not enough. We were told she would have one on one help, and she definitely didn't get that.
I was really hoping she'd be able to finish the year though. I'll see how she feels about going next week, and if she's totally against it, I won't push it.
I mentioned the idea of piano lessons which she was totally into, so I'm really thinking about that as a possible replacement for dance - just so she doesn't feel left out when Gracie goes to dance.
Piano would at least be one on one and very hands on, which I think she would benefit greatly from. We'll see. We could always do a little music lesson from Daddy during dance class too. She could use those special long thumbs to her advantage with a guitar. :)
We'll see next week how she's feeling, and go from there. I'm just so disappointed for her because I know she was really enjoying it at first. It's a shame it didn't work out, but we'll find something better for her, with someone who is willing to give her their all. That's what she deserves, and that's what she's going to get.
Period.

Roar, momma, roar. Even if she quits, you must tell the owner of your disappointment.
UGH. I so feel your pain! It's heartbreaking to see it happen, knowing just how unfair it is.
I can't wait to see what sweet Hanna chooses - I bet she will be amazing playing the piano!
Yes its one thing if she just chose not to do dance but if they are't doing what they said they would do to make it fun for her ... not okay! The advocacy piece can be exhausting at times. I hope they step up and do what they said. Roar from me!
:( def. let the owner know.
