special day

Today we celebrated Gracie's First Communion!
She was nervous at first, (actually wanted nothing to do it because she hates being centered out) until I told her that we would schedule it to be the same date as one of her good friends, Makayla.
She was so thrilled that she got to wear my dress from my first communion. After the ceremony, I talked to the girl who organized the whole thing, and she told me that Gracie told everyone she talked to that she was wearing her mom's dress. I thought that was pretty sweet, and I think it was very special that we are able to share the same dress!
We had everyone come back to the house to have some communion cake, and celebrate Hailey's birthday.

This was kind of like a flashback for my mom and dad. But very cool.
I wish I had the picture of me with my Nanny and Pappy way back in 1993 in the same dress.
She couldn't get out of it fast enough though. Her shoes were off as soon as we got back in the car, and she was in her bathing suit within 10 minutes of being home. She's my flip-flop kid.
Hailey asked for a Mickey cake, so she got one. Not my best work...but she was happy.
She ended up sitting on my dad for candle blowing because it was so windy and the house would block the wind. He ended up being the card reader, and wrapper assistant.
 I don't think he minded. :)
She opened  gift from Michelle first that was a Doc McStuffins case of doctor stuff, and she was thrilled. Then one of the gifts from my mom and dad was a little McStuffins figurine play set. As soon as she saw it, her eyes lit up and she said "another McStuffins? No way!!" She's such a goof.

 We had a good day.
So blessed to have family who's lives revolve around these kids. There's so much love around us every single day, and I couldn't be more proud to be part of such an amazing family.

My Hailey girl turned four today.
Hailey is most definitely my easiest girl when it comes to attitude. Probably my hardest girl when it comes to causing trouble.
 But boy, is she funny!
She says the funniest things, and comes up with the most random stuff.
Her voice is probably the cutest thing. She talks almost with an accent, and I hope it lasts a long time. I'll miss the speech imperfections from this one.
She keeps busy and us even busier.

Hailey is one of those kids who just gets along with everyone.
She's easy going, and goes with it - whatever it is.
She changes her favourite colour weekly, and memorizes song lyrics like nothing I've ever seen.

She is still girly girly girly! She loves dress-up, and anything "pretty". She has to pick out her outfit every morning, and the second thing she does in the morning (after her morning bathroom break) is finds the brush and something for me to put in her hair.
 She is always happy.
Unless of course, she's crabby. And this only happens if she's tired.
At that point, she's easily annoyed, and does this foot stomp thing without even realizing she's doing it.
She's mostly happy though, and can lighten the mood by just entering a room. She just has an overall happy-go-lucky personality that I absolutely adore.

Today she waited all day for us to sing her Happy Birthday. I got home late, so finally after dinner we took out the cupcakes and sang to her.
It took her so long to blow out all those candles. She was aiming that air in the wrong direction! So, when she finally got them all out - one by one - she was so proud!
She's funny because she likes opening the cards almost as much as opening the gift!

She was even more thrilled to open a picture drawn by Gracie. Hanna made her a picture a couple days before with my mom, and gave it to her then.
Her favourite thing right now is Duck Tales. So, we got her some Duck Tales! Of course she got a pretty birthday outfit too, but for once, the pretty outfit took second place. She was thrilled for her new movies! I was glad about that because I felt really weird getting a four year old DVDs for her birthday!

We are so blessed to have the sunshine she brings every single day to our life.
Happy Birthday to our littlest big girl!
We love you!

our newest little monkey

With the help from her biggest sister.

And I'm pretty sure that's both of their "proud" faces.

I guess I was moving to slow for him this morning...

mother's day

Matt let me sleep in, and got everyone fed for me this morning.
Then, they kicked me out of the house so they could make their "big surprise" for me.
I went over to my parent's house to see my mom, and about 2 hours later, I came home to this:
I think I'm the luckiest mom in the world.

And since we're on the subject of moms...
I have the best one.

No question about it.

My mom is a rock.

She's a rock for the entire family.

She's there to right the wrongs, fill the empties, and just make every day better.

She's always there.

If she's needed, she stops what she's doing (literally) and goes where she's needed.

She's basically superman. But, well, superwoman.

She's my superwoman.

My mom, my hero.
Fighting bad guys, and bad days everywhere.
You're my hero, Mom.
Never, ever forget that.

dance recital

Hailey had her dance recital today!
My mom, dad, Kristyn, Bryanna and Yuli came with Matt and I and the kids to watch.
She looked super cute.

She was ecstatic to be able to wear a little bit of blush and shiny eye shadow.
As far as the dancing part...
 She didn't do much moving...
but when she found us in the crowd, she was so happy to see us!
 She did a great job!
She danced a bit more for her ballet routine (these photos) than her tap, but I'm so happy to have the tap routine on video. It was hilarious! She stood there.
The whole time.
And when it came time to do patty cake with her partner, they stood there, and just looked at each other.
It was so funny.

We were all very proud. Especially Hanna. :)
She kept saying "Hailey did totally awesome up there!"

I'm glad that Hailey had her turn at dance like the other girls, but I think dance is now a thing of the past.
It wasn't her thing, so she'll try something different next time, and I'm happy to say good-bye once and for all to the dance studio.  Honestly, I don't like the whole dance scene either.

You made a beautiful dancer while it lasted, baby girl.
Now, onto something new!

the cutest kid. ever.

That's just my opinion, of course!

birthdays - again

We celebrated Samantha, Hailey and Ben's birthdays over at Gram's house with my in-laws.
Hailey got a Minnie Mouse house, that she is completely obsessed with, and Ben got his Paw Patrol lookout tower he's been eying up!
Spoiled kids.

I mostly enjoyed seeing and visiting with Sam.
We miss her. She's living out East, so it was nice to see her having fun with the kids.

We were spoiled rotten with a fabulous dinner, and lots of desserts. It's always a nice treat to get together with everyone. We are beyond blessed to be surrounded with amazing family on both sides.

It's my mom's birthday today. (Although I'm writing this late)
She's the most selfless person I know.
I wish I could give her the stars and the moon, but all I can do is give her words.
I think she knows how much she's loved, but I don't say the words enough.

You're loved more than you can imagine, Mom.
Your the best friend I could ever have, and there's nothing I appreciate more than who you are, and what you do. You deserve only great things.
Happy Birthday.

We had a nice day celebrating Sawyer, Ben, and mom's birthday today at our house.

Wrapping paper disaster!
I think it was a great night, and everyone got spoiled! It's kind of nice to have the birthdays all in a row! May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. How lucky are we!
