When I was growing up, and even now, my mom and dad always made the night of decorating the Christmas tree a special one.
My mom goes out and buys snacks, and appetizers, and I'm really not sure if she realizes how much all of us look forward to it. She might not be trying to make it a big deal, but it is, and always was.
So, now, with my own kids, I try to make sure that they know that I'm at least trying to make it special for them, too.
I bought snacks, and a gingerbread house, and even whipped cream for hot chocolate (special occasions call for whipped cream!).
Nothing fancy, but the kids told me over and over that it was "the best day ever!".
