storm quietness

I agreed to watch Kristyn's kids while they went on a wine tour, and the weather turned out to be a little crappy. The kids spent most of the time in the house, and I was actually thankful when the storm got nasty, and we lost power in the house. It's funny how quiet a house gets just because it's dark.
I helped them build an under-the-table fort, gave them a flashlight, and they made their own fun.
Laughter filled the dark house, as they made shadow puppets for a good hour. I sat with the last bit of battery power on my laptop and an ice-cold coke, listening to the roaring wind and cracks of thunder.
It was probably one of the most relaxing hours I've had in a long time!

sprinkler express

That's what these crazy girls called the swing as it swung through Ben's little Paw Patrol sprinkler.
They have really been enjoying the summer. It's been a hot one, and every single one of them have just been loving the water, even freezing cold straight from the hose.
It makes me so happy to see them enjoying the little things.
It doesn't take much to make these kiddos happy.
Ben was happy to watch from the sidelines this time.

picture of the day

Big baby...he's still favouring that leg, and actually let me carry him around like this for about 1/2 an hour.

poor rocket

Today we noticed that Rocket was walking with a very bad limp. He wasn't using his back leg at all.
After telling the kids to be very gentle with him, Hailey told me she saw him fall out of the willow. She even showed me where he fell, which is also where there was a broken branch on the ground.
Assuming she was telling me the truth, he fell a long way.
So, we're babying him until he starts feeling better.

day trip to....

Pointe Pelee!
It was Michelle's birthday, and for something different to do, we (Michelle, Kristyn and I, and all the kids) headed there for the day.
Michelle and the kids picked us up in the Winnie!
Here we are waiting in the front yard for her to pick us up.

The kids got to participate in a really cool program. They were deemed "explorers" for the day and they had to find things, and get stamps from certain was really neat and all of them were right into it!
This next picture is my favourite from the day. Look at Gracie's face.
She was totally watching out for Hanna's little fingers getting a bit too close to that snake's head.  :)

Look at this mess of kids!

It was a very hot day, but everyone was so well behaved, and we had a lot of fun.
Happy Birthday Michelley!

dentist for benny

I was supposed to call a pediatric dentist to fill Ben's 2 tiny cavities, but after 2 weeks of them not calling me back, I decided to try to bring him back to our family dentist.
Glad I did too, because he did great! Absolutely perfect actually. They didn't even have to freeze him. They used the gas, and were done in half and hour.
What a big boy!

Happy Birthday Dad

My Daddy.
My kids' Pappy.
All of our rock.

My dad's a pretty special man. He manages to be big and strong, and soft and gentle...all at the same time.

He can fix anything.

He can also build anything.

My dad has taught me a whole bunch. From changing a tire, to installing a ceiling light.

I hope he does, but I'm not sure he will ever know exactly how much he is adored, because the amount just can't be expressed.

Today is my dad's birthday.

Dad, if I could give you the moon, I would. But, since I can't, this short but sweet note is the best I can do.
I love you Daddio.

michelle and dad's bithdays

We celebrated Dad and Michelle's birthdays tonight after dinner.
No pictures of Michelle's because they're on her camera, but here's some of my daddy-o.

gram is 80

We celebrated Gram's birthday today!
She turns 80 on the 16th.
I think she looks great!
I was in charge of decorating, so I planned for a Luau.  I had lots of plans for outside, but of course the one day it decides to rain this summer, it had to be today.
I had a ton of leis, and a bunch of hanging decorations, so it all worked out anyway.
Gracie was thrilled to dress up like a little Hawaiian girl, but she said her favourite part was when Ayden dressed up too, and could've passed as her sister.
Everyone had a lot of fun. Matt's entire family was able to come to celebrate. That's all she asked for - a big party with EVERYONE there. That's what she got, and it was a great night!
